Finland project

Artist residency in Hämeenkyrö Finland and exhibition at Embassy of Finland in Canberra

I’ve been offered a one-month artist residency at the Arteles Creative Centre in Finland to develop a series of expressionist paintings inspired by the stunning Finnish landscape. During the residency, I’ll paint in situ in the forest and by lakes, and in the studio from memory and photos.

The paintings will be exhibited at the Embassy of Finland in Canberra, from 20 November 2017 to 15 January 2018, as part of the event program for the Suomi Finland 100 Centenary of Independence. The works will then be shown at Steps Gallery in Melbourne from 24 April to 16 May 2018.

My updates about the project follow below.

12 April 2017: Thank you to the City of Greater Geelong for a $1000 Community Arts (Professional Development) Grant towards this project. To have the support of my hometown means a lot and is greatly appreciated. My first grant and first artist residency.
FinlandProject27 March 2017: Huge thanks to those who have purchased works from my Expressions of Landscape exhibition at Metropolis Gallery and other recent paintings. Your support brings this project closer to reality. Last year, my valued community of collectors enabled me to self-fund the Back to Back Theatre Portraits project, which will be exhibited in Melbourne in late 2017. I would not be able to continue painting without the support of those who believe in me and connect to my work.
Thank you, you really are my partners in all this.
